Biomechanical test set-up. The left ankle specimen was (1) mounted to the test machine (2) using a custom steel cup. (3) Kirschner wires were used to prevent the fibula movement. (4)The foot was fixed to a wood plate, (5) which was mounted to the custom holder by clamps. (6) The custom holder secured to the machine mimicked ankles sprain to perform the position of maximum tension of ATFL.
