A patient (age range 50–59 years) with a meningomyelocele defect on the lumbar region. (Upper left) A 10 × 4 cm wound with a vertically oriented cavity, was observed after complete excision of the meningomyelocele. The distal half of the flap was de-epithelized, and inserted into the cavity. (Upper right) After complete inset of the flap, both the recipient and the donor wounds were closed with sutures. (Below) The wound healed without any problems
