Casanova-Test and source of parathyroid hormone. Casanova-Test results show a positive Casanova-Test (PTH decrease of more than 50 % of the pre-ischemic value) in 19 patients (45 %, source of PTH: autograft), a negative Casanova-Test (PTH decrease of less than 20 % of the pre-ischemic value) in 11 patients (26 %, source of PTH: neck), an unpredictable Casanova-Test (PTH decrease more than 20 % and less than 50 % of the pre-ischemic value) in 5 patients (12 %, source of PTH unidentifiable: neck or autograft) and a pointless Casanova-Test (pre-ischemic value of PTH ≤ 0.3 pmol/l) in 7 patients (17 %, biochemical hypoparathyroidism). PTH: intact parathyroid hormone; Hypopara: biochemical hypoparathyroidism
